Step Screen

Efficient and Reliable Screening with HUBER SSV and SSF Step Screen

The HUBER SSV and SSF Step Screens are highly efficient mechanical screening systems designed for fine and coarse solids separation in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. Featuring a unique step-shaped design, these screens provide reliable solids removal with minimal head loss while ensuring self-cleaning operation. The SSV Step Screen is designed with a vertical installation for applications with limited space, while the SSF Step Screen offers an inclined design for optimal flow and screening efficiency. Both models effectively capture solids, protect downstream equipment, and reduce maintenance requirements.

The step screens are available in widths ranging from 500 mm to 200 mm with a maximum discharge height of 3.5 m.

HUBER SSV Step Screen (Vertical Installation)

The SSV Step Screen is designed for vertical installation, making it ideal for applications where space is limited or where deep channels require a compact screening solution. Its vertical orientation allows for efficient solids removal while maintaining a small footprint, making it well-suited for retrofitting into existing treatment plants or installations with depth constraints. Despite its compact design, the SSV model can handle high screenings volumes and provides high operational reliability with minimal maintenance.

HUBER SSF Step Screen (Inclined Installation)

The SSF Step Screen features an inclined design, typically at angles of 35° to 55°, optimising the screening process by allowing wastewater to flow smoothly through the system. This configuration ensures improved separation efficiency while maintaining a gentle lifting motion for screenings, reducing wear and tear on the lamellae. The inclined design also makes the SSF model easier to integrate into standard wastewater channels, enhancing overall plant efficiency.

Key Features of Both Models

Self-Cleaning Mechanism: The counter-current principle ensures continuous cleaning without external brushes or sprays, reducing maintenance efforts.

High Screenings Capture Rate: Effectively retains solids, including fibrous materials, hair, and debris, protecting downstream equipment such as pumps and membrane systems.

Robust and Reliable Design: Built for long-term performance with corrosion-resistant materials and a durable linkage system that avoids complex chain drives.

Easy Maintenance: The motor linkage drive is designed for low wear and easy servicing, eliminating the need for difficult-to-maintain components.

Customisable Configurations: Available with different bar spacings to suit various applications, from municipal sewage treatment plants to industrial wastewater systems.

Both the SSV and SSF models are widely used in municipal wastewater treatment plants and other applications requiring efficient solids removal. Their energy-efficient, low-maintenance, and high-performance design makes them a preferred choice for operators looking to enhance their preliminary treatment process.

The HUBER STEP SCREEN® System is widely recognised for its efficiency, simple operation, and effective self-cleaning mechanism based on the counter-current principle, eliminating the need for additional cleaning aids. It is easy to maintain, highly reliable, and capable of handling large volumes of screenings.

The motor linkage drive is an evolution of the well-proven link system, designed to enhance durability and performance. To ensure minimal maintenance, the design deliberately avoids complex chain drives. The newly developed linkage system effectively manages bending moments on the lamellae, particularly in high-water level conditions, ensuring long-term operational stability.
