Fine Drum Screens

Fine Drum Screens Perfectly Suited for Municipal Wastewater

The HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID is a high-performance liquid screening solution designed to protect membrane systems amongst many other applications by removing fine solids as small as 0.2 mm. Made from stainless steel and treated with an acid pickling process, the Drum Screen LIQUID offers long-lasting durability and corrosion resistance. Its self-cleaning design, with an automated spray bar, guarantees low-maintenance performance.

The system features a rotating drum with a fine mesh or perforated plate, allowing for continuous filtration while minimising clogging. An internal spray system ensures the screen remains clean, maintaining reliable operation with minimal manual intervention. Its fully enclosed design helps control odours and prevents aerosol emissions, making it an ideal solution for municipal applications.

The HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID features a horizontally positioned screen basket, installed either in a channel or tank. Wastewater flows into the basket from the open front and passes through it from the inside out, while solids are retained within the drum. A specialised seal between the channel and the screen basket opening ensures no untreated wastewater bypasses the screen.

As solids accumulate on the drum surface, the screen gradually becomes blinded, causing the water level upstream to rise. Once the predefined maximum water level is reached, the drum begins to rotate around its axis to initiate cleaning. A spray bar positioned at the top of the drum sprays water onto the surface from the outside, dislodging the captured solids and flushing them into a trough inside the drum basket. From there, the screenings are discharged by gravity. If required, the screenings can also be pumped to a higher level.

High-Pressure Cleaning
An optional, innovative high-pressure cleaning system can be integrated for proactive basket maintenance. This system features a spray nozzle head that automatically rotates due to water pressure and moves along the entire length of the screen basket. This ensures thorough and efficient cleaning while minimising water consumption and operator involvement.

Reliable Sealing
The performance of any screening system depends heavily on the reliability of its sealing. The HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID incorporates a specially designed PU sealing system at the inlet to prevent untreated wastewater from bypassing the screen. This ensures consistently high separation efficiency and reliable operation.

Low-Maintenance Direct Drive
The HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID is fitted with a unique, self-adjusting bearing unit. This allows the drum to be mounted without stress and ensures automatic angle compensation. The bearings are self-lubricating, reducing maintenance requirements and maximising system availability.

The HUBER Drum Screen LIQUID is available in various designs and can be customised for a wide range of solids-liquid separation applications. The horizontal drum can be fitted with different screening materials, including mesh, wedge wire, or perforated plate, depending on the specific requirements of the application.
