Through Flow Band Screen – EscaMax
Through-Flow Band Screening with EscaMax®
The EscaMax® Screen is a through-flow band screen featuring a linked band made of perforated stainless steel panels. Its compact design allows for easy retrofitting into existing channels. Compared to centre-flow screens, the through-flow profile offers greater flexibility in hydraulic conditions, making it well-suited for inlet works, particularly those incorporating downstream grit removal systems.
The HUBER Band Screen EscaMax® is ideal for applications requiring high separation efficiency in deep channels with elevated water levels. Its perforated screening elements provide superior separation compared to slit screens.
The EscaMax Screen is available in widths ranging from 500 mm to 3000 mm and can accommodate flow rates of up to 3000 L/s. Perforation sizes range from 3.5 mm to 10 mm.
Benefits of the Through Flow Band Screen
- The entire machine is fabricated from stainless steel
- Very high screenings capture. UK NSEF tested at 75%
- Favourable hydraulics when matching with downstream grit removal systems
- All bearings are maintenance-free. All submerged bearings are wear-resistant ceramic bearings
- Compact design with a low installation height above ground level
- Completely odour-encased screen with easy-to-remove covers
- Easy-to-retrofit into existing channels and installation without channel recesses is possible
- The screen consists of a self-supporting folded stainless steel profile so that it can easily be lifted out of the channel
- Not hindered by gravel or grit
- Simple and easy-to-access chain tensioning unit
Screen Operation
Each end of the HUBER Belt Screen EscaMax® filter belt is connected to a drive chain, which is powered by chain wheels. These chain wheels are driven by a sprocket mounted on a common shaft and a flange-mounted gear motor. As the screening elements pass the upper turning point, they are cleaned by an internal spray nozzle bar that operates against the screening direction.
A separately and continuously driven roller brush further enhances the cleaning process. Operating against the filter belt’s travel direction, the roller brush significantly improves cleaning efficiency.
One key advantage of this cleaning method is that most screenings, including abrasive materials, are removed in the first stage by the spray bar. This reduces wear on both the screening elements and the roller brush, ensuring longer operational life.
Designed for durability, the HUBER Belt Screen EscaMax® effectively handles high loads of gravel and grit. Its two-dimensional screening elements efficiently capture long fibres, maximising separation performance.

From Concept to Completion
Hydroflux Epco’s engineers work closely with clients, contractors, and consultants to develop tailored screening solutions. Comprehensive design documentation is prepared, including process flow diagrams, equipment layouts, performance specifications, and integration plans for existing facilities and utility requirements. Careful consideration is also given to the handling, storage, and disposal of the screened material to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
Our team of experts understands the complexities of screening processes and will always provide tailored advice on selecting, designing, and optimising the correct screening systems in each case.
