High Efficiency Membrane Diffusers for Hunter Water’s Toronto WWTW
Toronto Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) processes sewage from an equivalent population of approximately 35,000. The process uses secondary activated sludge treatment with the final effluent being directed to an outfall pump station.

Recently the WWTW was upgraded to new a new diffuser system that would provide a more efficient diffuser and one that would meet the needs of future growth.
“AEROSTRIP® diffusers are well proven across numerous installations in Australia. We have seen the diffusers achieve a 12-year life and independent testing by some of our customers has shown little impact of fouling or alpha factor over the life of the diffuser.
The proprietary polyurethane membrane used is unique. The blend allows for high tensile strength, increasing longevity and reducing the overall asset cost of a wastewater treatment plant. And off course the tiny 1mm bubbles provide increased mass transfer, leading to reduced energy consumption over circular type diffusers” says Luis Bastos, CEO of Hydroflux Epco.

Hydroflux provides complete turnkey aeration upgrades to any wastewater treatment plant, including design, project management, site installation work, blower packages, header pipework, removal frames and performance testing.
