Wastewater Treatment Plant for High-Tech Meat Processing Facility, Greater Sydney

A new state-of-the-art meat processing and packaging facility in Greater Sydney required a wastewater treatment plant that could meet strict environmental standards while fitting within a highly constrained footprint. Traditional biological treatment methods such as Sequencing Batch Reactors (SBR) or lagoons were not feasible due to space limitations. The client sought a turnkey solution that combined advanced process efficiency with long-term sustainability.

Hydroflux Industrial was awarded the contract by Commercial & Industrial Property (CIP) Pty Ltd to design and construct the complete WWTP. The system integrates:

  • Advanced screening equipment
  • HyDAF next-generation Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system
  • Hydroflux Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) biological treatment, incorporating high-efficiency FlooTECH media
  • HUBER Inclined Screw Press (ISP) for low-energy sludge dewatering

Hydroflux Industrial collaborated closely with CIP during the design phase to develop a bespoke solution that optimised performance within the limited footprint. The advanced MBBR process was selected to provide compact, stable, and highly efficient biological treatment, enabling significant reduction in organic load with less operator involvement compared to conventional systems.

The Results

The plant delivered:

  • High-efficiency solids removal through HyDAF technology
  • Compact and stable biological treatment via the MBBR system
  • Sustainable, low-energy sludge dewatering using HUBER ISP
  • A fully integrated, turnkey wastewater treatment solution aligned with the facility’s high-tech operations

Technology in Action

By combining HyDAF, MBBR, and HUBER technologies, Hydroflux Industrial has delivered a modern wastewater treatment solution tailored to the challenges of a constrained site. The project showcases Hydroflux’s capability in designing state-of-the-art treatment plants that balance performance, sustainability, and practicality.
