Hydroflux Supports Large-Scale Algae Harvesting for Low-Carbon Biofuels

January 27, 2026

Hydroflux has been engaged by Algo Australia (a subsidiary of Nature Based Solutions) to supply advanced Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology to support large-scale algae cultivation for conversion into low-carbon jet fuel, renewable diesel, and high-value bioproducts.

Algo Australia is pioneering “algo circularity farms,” using sunlight and seawater to grow microalgae that capture carbon while avoiding competition with local freshwater resources. Efficient separation of algae biomass is critical to the process, and Hydroflux’s high-performance DAF systems have been engineered specifically for reliable, high throughput harvesting in seawater environments.

Engineered for Seawater, Scalable for Growth

The modular DAF design aligns with Algo Australia’s rapid deployment model, enabling future expansion across multiple production sites. Major wetted components are constructed from SAF2507 (super duplex stainless steel), ensuring exceptional corrosion resistance, extended service life, and dependable performance under continuous seawater operation.

Advancing Sustainable Fuels Through Partnership

This collaboration highlights the role of industrial water technology in accelerating sustainable biotechnology and circular resource use.

“With a vision to lead industry to a sustainable future, partnerships like this fit perfectly with Hydroflux Industrial,” said Mathew Foster, CEO of Hydroflux Industrial. “Visiting the circularity farm in Gove in the Northern Territory showed the scalability of the process and the potential for greener energy production.”
